Regular practice is essential for progress. Frequent absences can negatively affect skill development, making sustained effort important for practitioners of all levels.

Practice Expectations

Regular practice is essential for progress. Frequent absences can negatively affect skill development, making sustained effort important for practitioners of all levels.

Private students are expected to practice a minimum of five times per week to ensure progress and preparedness for each lesson. Successful students establish effective practice routines, often practicing daily, sometimes multiple times. The key aspects of practicing are consistency and quality, rather than the amount of time spent. Students are not required to track specific practice minutes; instead, daily, focused practice is the goal.

For beginners, just 10-15 minutes of quality practice each day can lead to significant progress. Parents are encouraged to support their children by creating a structured practice environment and helping them to adhere to their Schedule. Progress will be discussed during lessons, and any challenges should be communicated with the instructor.

Our Piano Studio Annual Recital

Studio Recitals: We hold studio recitals throughout the year, offering students a platform to perform and celebrate their achievements. These events not only mark their progress but also provide invaluable experience in public performance, culminating in the Annual Recital where students can truly showcase their skills and growth.

Specific details regarding performance pieces and registration fees will be communicated in advance.

Certificate of Merit (CM)

The Certificate of Merit (CM) program, established by the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC), allows students to progress at their own pace through levels from Level 0 (Prep) to Level 10 Advanced.

The program includes evaluations of skills such as technique and performance.

Performance opportunities, including CM assessments, are highly encouraged but require additional fees that must be paid in advance.

Students should discuss their goals with teachers and develop a practice plan aligned with their CM level.
